Unforgettable Elephant Hunting
Botswana is famous for having Africa's largest elephant population of over 130,000 animals, making it the ideal place to track elephants with large, heavy tusks.
Minga collaborates with OLD MAN’S PAN safaris in Botswana, owned and operated by the experienced professional hunter, Leon Kachelhoffer. OLD MAN’S PAN boasts a top-class elephant area in northern Botswana called NG13. The area spans over 400,000 hectares and harbors one of the largest concentrations of elephants in Africa. Expect to hunt elephants with tusks weighing over 60 pounds, with good chances of finding those over 70 pounds. In 2022, Leon and his team already successfully hunted a 100-pound elephant in NG13. In other words, this is a dream location for elephant hunters.
Leopards can also be hunted in NG13. They have a quota of only 2 leopards per year, and hunters can expect exceptionally large leopards. Leopard hunting involves the use of bait and can be added to a 14-day elephant hunt.
About 70% of the country is covered by the Kalahari Desert to the south and mainly by the Okavango Delta to the north, one of the world's largest deltas. Botswana has a relatively mild climate, and during the hunting season, temperatures typically range from 15 to 35 degrees Celsius. The hunting season primarily runs from April to September, which coincides with Botswana's dry season. The hunting area NG13 is situated in the northern part of Botswana, where our partner, OLD MAN’S PAN safaris, holds the concession for a remarkably vast, virtually unknown, and untouched area. Thor has known the owner of Old Man's Pan, Leon Kachelhoffer, since 2015 and has hunted with him several times. Leon is one of the most experienced professional hunters in Botswana. To reach the hunting area, one flies internationally to Maun. From there, it's recommended to book a helicopter to and from the hunting area, costing approximately $3,000 each way. Alternatively, one can drive to the area, but it's a journey of over 12 hours.Botswana - NG13
